Meta – full augmented reality glasses

With this new glasses the start up company Meta from New York realizes the fist time glasses which can not only place virtual objects into the reality but enables users also to manipulate them. Currently the company collects money via Crowdfinancing . Target amount was 100.000 US $, this was already reached within five days.

In comparison to Google glass the Meta glasses are real augmented reality glasses. Both eyes and most of the field of view can be overlayed with graphics where as Google glass only allows to insert small images in one of the eyes.

The Meta glasses will be equipped with a compass, a gyro sensor and an acceleration sensor. The current model is based on the Epson Moverio BT-100 . The glasses come with a SDK and for programming currently only the Unity3D engine under Windows is supported.
