3D scanner for iPads

At the CES conference 3D Systems introduces next to its 3D printers also two new 3D scanners: on stationary device and one mobile. The latter one is called iSense and works as an extension to the Apple iPad. With the iSense module attached also bigger objects can be scanned and digitized as a 3D model. The module will be available in the second quarter of 2014 and shall cost around 500 US Dollars.

The hardware of the module is produced by Occipital. They could successfully produce this product with a kick-start campaign under the name “Structure Sensor“. 3D models digitized with the iSense module should be transferable seamlessly to the 3D systems  3D printers (Cube-printer).
